Sterling Pratt Advisory

Sterling Pratt LLC

No pilots. The first build goes into daily use.

Sterling Pratt is the advisory practice of Ryan Sterling Spencer. Two tracks: AI systems for owner-operated companies, and operating work for hedge funds and venture funds. One operator, working on your own documents and numbers.

13 years in institutional finance and data infrastructure · Full P&L responsibility across four operating entities · MBA, Rutgers

What I do

Two tracks, one operator.

Track one — companies

Built on your books, not a demo.

Executive and staff assistants, operating dashboards, and internal applications built on the company's own documents, numbers, and playbooks.

The first engagement covered a family enterprise running restaurants, residential and healthcare real estate, private lending, and car washes. Four entities, one set of numbers. Six weeks in, the weekly close moved from four days to one.

  • Executive and staff assistants on your own knowledge
  • Operating dashboards across entities
  • Close, reporting, and approval workflows
  • Internal applications your team runs without me

Who this is for

Owner-operated companies keeping more than one set of books, where the owner still makes the decisions and the back office is the constraint.

Track two — funds

I have sat on both sides of the LP call.

Hedge funds and venture funds hire me for the operating layer: LP reporting, investor-relations workflows, research and data infrastructure, and AI systems that take the paperwork off a small investment team.

I ran investor relations and portfolio research at a digital asset fund, and sold to funds, market makers, and family offices from the exchange, custody, and OTC side. I know what a diligence request looks like from both chairs.

  • LP reporting and investor-relations workflows
  • Research and market-data infrastructure
  • Go-to-market and design-partner programs
  • AI systems for lean investment teams

Who this is for

Emerging managers and small investment teams where one person wears four hats and the reporting calendar never moves.

What I will tell you before you hire me

If the answer is a spreadsheet and a clear owner, I will say so and the engagement ends at the diagnostic. Most back-office problems are not AI problems. The ones that are, are worth building properly.

About

I ran the P&L before I built the dashboard.

Sterling Pratt is the advisory practice of Ryan Sterling Spencer, in St. George, Utah. It puts AI to work inside owner-operated, multi-entity companies: executive and staff assistants, operating dashboards, and internal applications built on the company's own documents, numbers, and playbooks. Before that he ran multi-site consumer businesses with full P&L responsibility and spent thirteen years in institutional finance and data infrastructure.

The name comes from the .925 sterling standard. British silver was certified by small punched marks struck into the metal — a maker's mark and a standard mark, read as a sequence. That is an accurate description of the work: a small mark that certifies something meets a standard.
